Incase you are one of them; you do not need to lose heart since you can make your own ping-pong table and enjoy the game! Making your own ping pong table is not just cheap but also not complicated as it may seem to be. Given below are instructions on how to build both a standing ping-pong table and a foldable one.

HOW TO BUILD A STANDING PING PONG TABLE

MATERIALS REQUIRED

  • Two plywood pieces measuring 4.5 feet, by 5 feet, at least quarter inch thick
  • 2- two by two lumber pieces, measuring 5 feet tall
  • 2 - two by two lumber pieces, measuring 9 feet tall
  • Screws
  • Wood Glue
  • Clamps
  • Enamel paints, both green and white
  • Masking tape
  • Paint brush and a paint roller
  • 6-inch tall net

PROCEDURE

  • Begin by making a base for your ping pong table. This is done by placing the 9 feet tall lumber pieces as length and 5 feet tall lumber pieces as width and forming a rectangle. Secure the corners together with screws.

  • Now make the table top using the two plywood pieces. Place the plywood such that it exactly fits in the already made base. The bounce of the ball will depend on the thickness of the table top. To ensure Use good quality wood glue and clamps to secure the table top with the base. Allow the glue to dry properly.

  • Measure and cut four two by twos. In order to obtain height of 30 inches which is the standard height, we need to ensure that the legs are twenty nine and three quarter of an inch long. Attach the legs to the four corners of the table using wood screws. This may also be done using nails but it must be kept in mind that screws tend to hold for longer time periods.

  • Now that the table has been built, you need to paint it. Its your wish whether you would like to use the standard green and white paints or would love to replace the colors with the ones you prefer. Coat the table top with good quality green enamel paint. Once it has dried thoroughly, use masking tape to mark the place where white lines have to be painted. Paint the sidelines, as well as end lines on the table with white enamel paint. All these lines should be ¾ inches wide. Mark the center line at the exact center point of the table from one end line to an other end line and the width of this center line must be one eight inch wide. Let the white pain dry thoroughly

  • Now attach a six inch wide net at the center of the table using clamps.

  • Now find yourself a partner, get the necessary playing equipments, the racquets and a ping pong ball and play a fun game of ping pong.
